The Conanicut Art Assoication Presents: Speaker Daniel Forster, Of Daniel Forster Photography
Wednesday, March 8th at 6:00 p.m.
Don't miss a stunning slide presentation by globe-trotting yachting photojournalist Daniel Forster, who has covered the world's greatest sailing events for nearly half a century. The Swiss sailing legend will be freshly back from the Sydney-Hobart Race with yarns to spin in five languages.
The featured speaker is one of the finest yachting photographers of our time, Daniel Forster of Jamestown, R.I., who has covered 12 America’s Cup since 1977, three Volvo Round-the-World Races from end to end and a dozen Olympic Games.
The photos you will see in his 45-minute slide show are nothing short of spectacular, every bit as evocative of the last glorious half-century in sailing as were the great Morris Rosenfeld’s photos from the 50 years before.
His remarkable picture of a battered, wind-worn Dennis Conner made the cover of Time Magazine in 1987, when Conner won the Cup in Fremantle, Australia; Daniel scored the Time cover again in 1995 when Russell Coutts and Peter Blake took the Auld Mug for Team New Zealand in San Diego.
He has been everywhere sailboats go, from Cape Horn to the Galapagos, the Hauraki Gulf to the Indian Ocean, from his own back yard in Newport to the Baltic Sea, the Mediterranean, Beagle Channel and Tasmania.
